Casino licences: what Curaçao, Malta and Anjouan actually mean

Four verifiable facts in one paragraph: the company, its registration number, the licensing country and the licence number.

⚠️ None of this is hidden — it is written for anyone who scrolls down. The question is not transparency; it is what it means for you.

Curaçao — the most common. Easier and cheaper to obtain, which is why so many brands hold one.

Malta (MGA) — an EU regulator. Stricter requirements and a functioning complaints process.

Anjouan — an island in the Union of Comoros, increasingly common in recent years. Leon publishes number ALSI-202410001-FI1.

⚠️ None of them is fake. What differs is how strict the requirements are and where you go when something breaks.

Some markets license operators directly, and the difference is practical.

Brazil — authorised casinos use a .bet.br domain and publish an SPA/MF authorisation. KTO's footer names APOLLO OPERATIONS LTDA., CNPJ 54.923.003/0001-26, under authorisation nº 2093/2024. You can check the company with the tax authority yourself.

Greece — the regulator publishes a blacklist of unlicensed domains. If a domain is on it, you know before depositing.

Japan — ⚠️ there is no online casino licensing regime at all. No brand holds a Japanese licence, because none exists. Any site claiming otherwise is wrong.

You will notice addresses like leon179.bet, iv2153.com, 22bet4me.com.

The number is not decorative. Regulators block unlicensed domains and the brand opens a new one.

⚠️ The practical consequence: your domain can stop working. If you have a balance inside, you will need to find the new address — and searching for the «correct» address of a brand is exactly when fake copies appear in results.

Some brands also restrict by region. Verde's bonus page opens normally from a Greek connection and returns «This internet site is not accepting visitors from your region» from outside. Worth knowing before you travel with a balance inside.

A licence means supervision. It does not mean the bonuses are good, or that the terms are visible.
