Ankh of Anubis: review, 96.2% RTP and up to 15000× max win

Ankh of Anubis is Play’n GO’s 2019 Egyptian game: five reels, 576 paylines, a 15,000× ceiling and a hit rate the studio actually publishes. It is also the clearest example in our catalogue of the thing that decides how much a slot returns — and it is not the slot.

Is Ankh of Anubis worth playing?

How it plays

Five reels with 576 paylines means combinations are counted generously, but the distribution is built around rare, large outcomes rather than frequent small ones. Stakes start at €0.10 and run to €100, so the game is reachable at a size where a long run of small wins still leaves something for the rare big one.

The paperwork nobody checks

Two pieces of housekeeping worth knowing:

• Play’n GO’s own page for the game is gone. We read the spec sheet on 28 August 2026; on 17 September 2026 the URL returns a 404. The demo launcher still works, and bigwinboard’s figures match what we recorded, so the numbers stand — but there is no first-hand page left to point you at.
• The studio declares the game fit for Portugal and Spain, and not for Brazil. If you are playing from Brazil and see it in a lobby, that lobby is not using the studio’s own market declarations.

The 2024 sequel changed the ride, not the price

Play’n GO shipped Ankh of Anubis Awakening five years after the original, and the spec sheets make an unusually clean comparison:

Same price, same ceiling, different distribution. That is the whole change, and it is a rarer kind of sequel than the usual one: most follow-ups raise the top line and leave the ride alone. This one left the top line alone and softened the ride.

⚠️ Which of the two you want is a genuine preference rather than a better buy. The same expected return and the same ceiling, spread differently: the original concentrates more into rarer outcomes, the Awakening spreads it wider. If you have found the original’s dry stretches hard to sit through, the sequel is the same game with that specific complaint addressed — at no cost in RTP.

96.2% is Play’n GO’s house number

It is also worth knowing that neither figure is specific to this game. Play’n GO’s Moon Princess line runs at 96.2% across seven titles released between 2021 and 2026, and both Ankh games sit on the same number. Within this studio, RTP is close to a constant — so comparing two Play’n GO games on price will usually tell you nothing, and comparing them on volatility and ceiling will tell you everything.
