Fortune Tiger (tigrinho) review: 96.81% RTP and a 2500× ceiling

Fortune Tiger is the game that named a phenomenon. In Brazil nobody calls it Fortune Tiger: it is the “tigrinho” — “little tiger”, the nickname that stuck to the mascot and now describes an entire category of PG Soft 3×3 slots. It launched in 2022, the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac, and has since become millions of players’ first ever slot.

Folklore aside, the game itself is about as simple as slots get: nine positions, one golden tiger, a single feature. The interesting question isn’t how to play it — it’s whether it still holds up once the curiosity wears off.

Is Fortune Tiger worth playing?

It is worth it if you want a game you understand in one spin, with medium volatility and the highest default RTP in the Fortune series (96.81%). It’s a good first slot for anyone who has never opened one and doesn’t want to learn menus, and it’s honest about what it offers: fast spins, small wins at a reasonable rate, and the occasional spike when the tiger shows up.

It isn’t worth it if you’re hunting the spin that changes your day. The 2500× ceiling is half of what Fortune Rabbit and Fortune Snake offer at the same level of simplicity. It’s also the wrong game if you like layered bonus rounds — there is one feature here and nothing else.

Verdict: the tigrinho is a deserved classic and still the best-calibrated of the series on RTP. But it’s a ten-minute game, not a two-hour one, and it isn’t where you chase a big prize.

The Fortune Tiger Feature — 5 respins and the ×10

This is the mechanic the whole game rests on. When the tiger lands, it triggers respins with a ×10 multiplier applied to the win, up to a maximum of 5 respins. You pay nothing for them: they are extra spins granted by the feature.

In practice that means Fortune Tiger lives on concentrated spikes. Most spins return little or nothing; what shapes a session is the moment the feature kicks in. If you expect winnings spread out smoothly you’ll find the game lumpy — despite the medium volatility label, the experience is “a lot of nothing, then a moment”.

A 3×3 grid — what it actually changes

Nine positions produce a very small number of possible outcomes. That has a real upside: you see at a glance whether you won, with no cascades, no counting symbols, no reading tables mid-spin. It’s total legibility.

The downside is wear. A hundred spins in, you’ve seen everything the grid has to show, and spins start blurring together. Fortune Tiger is built for short, frequent sessions rather than marathons — and that’s where it holds up best.

Medium volatility in practice

Medium volatility means your balance drains more slowly and predictably than on a high-variance slot: you get small amounts fairly regularly instead of sitting through twenty blank spins. On a small balance that’s genuinely useful, because you last longer.

But be clear about what it isn’t. A large share of those “wins” are partial returns of your stake, not profit. A session where you win ten times and still finish down is normal behaviour for this kind of game, not bad luck.

With almost the whole series on the site, the pecking order is clear. On RTP, Fortune Tiger is beaten only by Fortune Mouse (96.96%) and Mahjong Ways 2 (96.95%) — but a few hundredths of a percent between the Fortune titles is irrelevant across a real session. Choose on ceiling and rhythm instead.

Fortune Rabbit is the obvious swap if you want double the ceiling: a 3-4-3 layout (the middle reel carries four rows, unlike the tiger’s flat 3×3) and 5000×. Fortune Snake offers the same 5000× at low volatility — the pick of the series for long sessions.
