Rise of Olympus is the 2018 Play’n GO game that started a family: a 5×5 grid, cluster pays with cascades, and Hades, Poseidon and Zeus taking turns to bend the board. Is Rise of Olympus worth playing?
For the original design, yes. It is the purest version of the idea: the multiplier rises with every consecutive cascade and resets when the chain stops, the gods intervene on losing spins, and the free spins are earned by clearing the board rather than by landing scatters. That last detail is what makes the game feel different from almost everything else.
It is also a very volatile game — bigwinboard rates it 10 out of 10 — for a 2500× top prize. The sequels keep the same idea and offer far more room at the top, at a slightly lower RTP (96.20% against 96.50%).
Verdict: play the original for the best RTP in the family and the cleanest version of the mechanic; play the 100 or the Extreme if the ceiling is the point.
How the game works
Cascades and the multiplier. Winning clusters disappear and new symbols fall into the gaps. The win multiplier rises with every consecutive drop and goes back to ×1 when nothing else wins.
Hand of God, on a spin that did not win:
- Hades transforms one set of symbols into another.
- Poseidon adds up to two wilds.
- Zeus destroys two sets of symbols.
Fill the meter beside the grid and all three gods act in turn, which raises the chance of clearing the board.
Free spins. Clear the grid of everything but wilds and you choose a god. His power then fires on every losing spin of the round, the multiplier never resets (up to ×20), clearing the grid again pays an instant 100×, and filling the meter adds spins up to a maximum of 20.
