Fortune Gems 2 is the 2023 sequel to JILI’s most-cloned title. The skeleton is unchanged from the original: a 3×3 grid, 5 fixed lines, and a fourth side reel devoted entirely to multipliers. What changes is the setting — the generic temple gives way to the temple of Garuda, the eagle deity of Indonesian mythology — and, far more importantly, the maths.

That is where this review has to start, because one number changes everything: the default RTP of this slot is 94.38%. That is not a typo. It is the figure on the provider’s own spec sheet, and it sits more than two percentage points below the original Fortune Gems (96.5%).

If you looked this game up online, you probably read something else. Several aggregators — slotcatalog among them — publish 97% for Fortune Gems 2. That figure does not match the primary source. The difference between playing a 97% game and a 94.38% game is not a technicality: it is roughly 2.60 extra euros kept by the house, on average, per 100 euros wagered.

Is Fortune Gems 2 worth playing?

The table is unkind to Fortune Gems 2. Within its own family, Fortune Gems 500 offers 2.7 more points of RTP and a higher ceiling — it beats this game on both metrics at once, which is rare. Fortune Garuda 500, built on the same mythological setting, pairs 97.1% with a ceiling two and a half times larger. Even Fortune Tiger, in the same 3×3 format, carries almost two and a half points more RTP.

The sequel only beats the original on top-end potential. Against the rest of the 3×3 field, it beats nothing.

In a 94.38% game the expected cost of staying in play is meaningfully higher than in most alternatives: for every 100 euros you cycle through, the maths says you keep about 94.40.
